Golf carts have been a mainstay on golf courses around the world since the 1970s and have provided a variety of capabilities around the links. With carts like the 1992 E-Z-Go gas-powered cart, you can alter the speed using a few simple tweaks or adjustments. While the cart is limited to around 10 mph by factory settings, you can employ methods to increase the speed to as much as 20 mph.

Instructions

  • Remove the restrictor underneath the driver's gas pedal. This is a bar located under the pedal that prevents you from pressing it all the way and can be removed with a wrench or a screwdriver.
  • Add larger tires to your cart. While the same engine will still produce the same revolutions per minute, larger tires will allow the cart to cover more ground with these same RPMs.
  • Access the governor in the cart's engine and remove its speed restrictions. This can be found underneath the seat, near the top of the engine. The governor is a straight medal rod that should be pushed toward the carburetor to increase speed and fastened in the adjusted spot.
  • Clean the cart and remove any additional accessories or parts. Unnecessary dirt, grime and racks will slow the cart down.
